Hello, my name is Sarita aka sado, I’m a self-taught visual artist and life model based in London. My practice explores the intersections of neurodivergent experience and the theories of clairvoyance, with a particular focus on how these elements manifest in the body and mind. Through my work, I aim to challenge perceptions of vulnerability, selfhood, and protection.
Much of my inspiration comes from my experience as a life model, where I create vibrant, figurative works that often feature portraits of friends and family who, like myself, are neurodivergent. Using a mix of media—ranging from oil paints, oil pastels, and acrylics to African print fabrics and scarves—I create expressive, colorful representations of unmasked individuals. I intentionally incorporate symbolic elements within the compositions to convey a sense of protection and balance, particularly in the context of my own experience of being seen and understood. This includes depicting myself and others in the nude, reinforcing the tension between exposure and defense.
While my works are deeply rooted in my personal journey, I often allow them to evolve beyond my conscious control, resulting in forms and narratives that I may not fully understand. This sense of unpredictability mirrors my exploration of neurodivergence and clairvoyance. In this context, I consider my artwork to be ‘clairvoyant’ in theory—allowing the works to intuitively reveal truths or insights that may not be immediately accessible through conventional understanding.
